History:
Our Company is a third generation family based business and has specialized in the making of exclusive authentic fine Bavarian custom furniture and residential millwork for over 100 years.
Since the beginning days of our production, even into the present, our company has always been operated through the skilful hands of Master-cabinetmakers. This gives you the assurance that only a well trained and highly skilled journeyman person will shape your product.
The Company was founded around the year 1905 through Franz Kern Schallinger; he was the Grandfather of the today’s owner Franz Schallinger. From the year 1953 to 1979 the company was run by the father of the today’s owner. Since 1979 today’s owner Franz Schallinger is operating the business. His vision and business sense have brought many international customers to our company and through that our products are made available around the world.
All our furniture is build of solid wood and in centuries old techniques through highly skill full craftsmanship.
A specialty of ours are “Bauernschränke”; these cabinets are world renowned authentic, rich Bavarian rural style furniture, with highly detailed handcrafted components and are one of a kind. The authentic “Bauernschränke” (Bavarian rural style cabinets) are only available in our region of the world, in the heart of upper Bavaria the area of the “Berchtesgadener Land”. The Berchtesgadener Land is world renown for its quality craftsmanship and the design of outstanding, beautiful countrified furniture. Here is where our company is located in upper Bavaria in the middle of the Alps, close to the Austrian border.
All detailed components of our furniture, like personalized rural painting are done through local artists; also special rural carving and the reproduction of authentic antique hardware, like hinges and locks are done through local artists. All parts are made carefully, following old authentic historian specifications so that our costumers obtain the true Bavarian rural furniture.
The style of furniture that we are producing was already know to Lords, Duchess, Bishops and the royal Bavarian family in the 18th and 19th century. One can still see these magnificent pieces when visiting there residences, which are open to the public.
Each of our products is delivered with certificates, describing background and historian characteristic of each piece of furniture. Each unit is stamped with a seal guaranteeing its origin; “Made in Bavaria”, handcrafted with high accuracy, quality you can trust.
